Doggie Delicacies

Straight from the oven to
your hound's tummy .........

Doggie Divine Dinner

½ lb ground beef .. or turkey, chicken or lamb
¼ Cup of cooked rice
1 Small potato
1 Cup of green beans (5 – 8 beans)
¼ Teaspoon garlic powder

Brown the meat in a pan. When completely cooked, drain the fat.
Add the cooked rice; mix well. Set aside.

Cut the potato and beans into small bite size pieces. Place in a pot with water; bring to the boil. Simmer until vegetables are tender - about 15 – 20 mins. Drain.

Add the vegetables to the meat mixture.
Add garlic powder; toss thoroughly under a low heat.

Let the dinner cool well before serving to prevent burning
your hound's mouth.
This makes 2 meals.

Bacon Bites

3 Cups of wholemeal flour
1 Teaspoon of garlic powder.
½ Cup of finely diced uncooked bacon, including the fat
1 Egg, beaten slightly
2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil.
1 Cup milk (or ½ cup of full fat milk mixed with ½ cup of water)

Place flour and garlic powder in a large bowl. Stir in diced bacon;
add the egg and gradually the milk to form a dough.
Continue mixing or kneading the dough for a couple of minutes.

Using a teaspoon drop spoonfuls onto a non-stick baking tray.
Bake 200C for approximately 15 minutes until they start to brown. Allow to cool.

Baked Apple Cookies

¾ Cup of all-purpose flour
¾ Cup of whole wheat flour (or only all-purpose flour if preferred)
175g Soft margarine
1 Egg
1 Cup of peeled & chopped apples
2 Tablespoons of honey
½ Cup of evaporated milk
Water as necessary

Preheat oven to 200C. Combine all the ingredients, adding the apple last.
Mix thoroughly.

Lightly grease a baking tray. Either spread the mixture over the baking tray
to slice after cooking or place tablespoons of the mixture onto the tray.
Bake for 20 mins. Allow to cool and store in the refrigerator.

Veggie Bones

3 Cups of minced parsley.
¼ Cup of shredded carrots
¼ Cup mozzarella cheese – shredded
2 Tablespoons olive oil
2¾ Cups all-purpose flour
2 Tablespoons of bran
2 Teaspoons baking powder.
½ Cup of water - more if needed

Set oven to 150C. Lightly grease baking tray. Combine together parsley, carrots, cheese and oil. Mix together all dry ingredients and add to the
vegetables. Gradually add cup of water, mixing well.

Make a moist, but not wet dough. If needed. add a little more water.
Knead for one minute. Roll out dough to ½ inch thickness.
Using a cookie cutter, cut out shapes and transfer to the baking tray.
Re-roll the scraps and continue until all the dough is used.

Bake for 20 – 30 mins until the biscuits have browned and hardened slightly. They will harden more as they cool. Store in an airtight container
